Alert and Aware Program
Fire Extinguisher

The CHHA-NL Alert and Aware Program is available to provide or assist with the cost (for qualifying applicants) of a bedroom fire alert system.  The amount of funding available for bedroom fire alerts is dependent on need, household income, funding availability and other qualifying criteria. Public Accessibility Program

CHHA-NL provides a Public Accessibility Program for community organizations, charity groups, places of worship, and other places that provide public meeting spaces. The public accessibility fund provides hearing assistive technology for non-profits and registered charities to allow for greater accessibility in public spaces. The Canadian Hard of Hearing Association- Newfoundland and Labrador (CHHA-NL) offers 3 scholarships for students in Newfoundland and Labrador with hearing loss. There is an additional scholarship for students pursuing a career in Audiology. Please note: the deadline for all scholarship applications is June 30 of each year.

Students Taking Exams
Susan Brown Memorial Entrance Scholarship

For students with hearing loss or an auditory processing disorder in their first year of post-secondary studies.


Student Calling on the Phone
Glenna Stone Memorial Scholarship

For undergraduate students with hearing loss or an auditory processing disorder beyond their first year of studies.


Adult Graduation
Dr. Norah Browne Graduate Studies Scholarship

For students with hearing loss or an auditory processing disorder in graduate programs such as their Masters or PhD.


Audiology Scholarship

For students pursuing a post-secondary degree in Audiology. In addition $1000 may be awarded if the successful candidate returns to work in Newfoundland and Labrador.
